Patients can not judge their disease by themselves, and if someone wants to know which kinds of kidney disease he/she got, the following test items could be selected as required: Serum Complement, serum levels of Immunoglobulins, Selective Proteinuria Index, Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis, Urine c3, Urine Fibrin Degradation Products (UFDP) and Urease and Renal Biopsy etc..
Renal Function Tests: the common test items are Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr), and these items are tested commonly to check up whether their kidneys are damaged.
Some people also want to know which kinds of indexes are significant for their kidneys’ condition. Here we take a test list for your reference:
If you doubt you have Adult Nephrotic Syndrome, the usual test items to clarify a diagnosis are:
I Routine urinalysis: qualitative examination of protein and urinary sediment examination could judge glomerular abnormalities initially.
II 24-hour urinary protein quantitative examination: The result of 24-hour urinary protein quantitative examination is over 3.5 g/day. This is an essential condition for diagnosis of Adult Nephrotic Syndrome.
III Plasma albumin determination: Low plasma albumin (<30 g/L) is an essential condition for diagnosis of Adult Nephrotic Syndrome.
IV Serum lipid determination: Nephrotic Syndrome patients often suffer from lipid metabolic disturbance and Hyperlipidemia.
However, if we want to know details about our residual kidney function and extent of damage, we could make treatment plans and estimate prognosis, you may need the following test items:
I Renal function test: The common test items are Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr), which can be used to check whether kidneys are damaged and the extent of damage.
II Electrolyte determination & co2-cp (Carbon Dioxide Combining Power) determination: these tests can be used to check up whether electrolyte disturbance and acid-base disturbance occur or not.
III Test of Hemorheology: Nephrotic Syndrome patients are often in hypercoagulable status, and their blood viscosity will be on the increase too. This test is available for them to understand related conditions.
